Atelier Pronovias debuted its 2017 bridal collection Barcelona. The runway show, hosted at the Italian Pavilion, attracted a star-studded crowd including Pronovias digital ambassadors Chiara and Valentina Ferragni, as well as Louise Roe, Whitney Port, Rumy Neely, Jennifer Grace, Patricia Manfield, Tamara Kalinic, Anna-Lea Popp and Madison Ramaget.

The gorgeous gowns featured delicate details like gemstone embroidery and luxurious lace.
“I feel very happy to be in the show again because Pronovias is like family. All the dresses make you feel beautiful, and I feel like I can be myself when wearing them,” Irina Shayk, who walked in the runway show, said in a press release. Beata Gliniecka (3)

The unveiling of creative director Herve Moreau’s 2017 collection for Spanish bridal powerhouse Pronovias is understandably a much anticipated highlight on the Barcelona Bridal week calendar.

The invitation gave a hint of the evening ahead – the title ‘Le Ciel’ in silver sparkles, the promise of numerous supermodels walking the runway and a celebrity strewn crowd. We certainly weren’t disappointed.

Seating the capacity crowd under hundreds of hanging tea lights like stars in a night sky as the invite promised, the show opened with Victoria’s Secret supermodel Irina Shayk in a skintight crepe sheath with feather trimmed long sleeves.

This was swiftly followed by fellow Victoria’s Secret angel Romee Strijd in a simply cut but equally fitted crepe gown – completely plain but for a built in crystal ‘necklace’ and embroidered train.

Beowse thousands of dresses. Bias cut crepe featured heavily in the collection, softened with delicate detailing such as feather epaulettes, tulle shoulder streamers and crystal embellished sleeves. Dresses were kept slick and modern with sharply cut racer backs , a deep cuffed cowl neck and illusion panels. Not for the bride hoping to have a three course sit down reception and cake, I imagine.

Super sheer chiffon, embroidered tulle and thigh high splits added a sexy sophistication and trains featured on dress after dress, from a sheer tulle embellished Watteau train to a fully draped lace cathedral train on a silk taffeta ballgown.

Tips for finding the perfect dress. There were baroque regal touches of lace high necks and traditional voluminous ballgowns but each classic dress was given a subtle modernity with the details such as slit side pockets, an undulating overskirt, a plisse pleated tulle capelet.
My stand out gown was a second-skin embroidered tulle and lace dress with demure high neck and magnificent silk taffeta hooded cape which billowed like a parachute on the catwalk.

Irina closed the show in seriously sexy style, a fitted crepe gown with split train back exposing a rear panel of embroidered sparkling sheer floral tulle. The ultimate exit dress.
